No patent these days presents a barrier to entry, it just presents a negotiable impediment, or a a variable competitive cost. It's only about variable bucks and time that might retard the development of viable competition. Market strategy, market timing, management skill, etc.,usually are more important factors in a small tech company's success, than is an air-tight patent estate.
