US awards $50 bln IT services contract to 29 firms



BOSTON, July 31 (Reuters) - The U.S. government said on Tuesday it has chosen 29 companies to provide information technology services to federal agencies in a massive contract it said is worth $50 billion.

Winners include Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS.N: Quote, Profile, Research), International Business Machines Corp (IBM.N), L-3 Communications Holdings Inc <LLL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Unisys Corp (UIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research). (Reporting by Jim Finkle)

29tango, I think you are jumping the gun a little. With that line of thinking, there would only be one software company(msft), because MSFT would marginalize all of them.

I think your fears are unfounded at the present time. But, be afraid if it makes you feel better.

...in one of his earlier 2007 Gilder Reports:

"Wave Systems will have to remain vigilant indeed to offer needed middleware and software implementations as the industry giants increasingly integrate all the TPM functionality"
