Please forgive me for butting into your conversation. I can't really disagree with you. However, another reason for the situation is competition with ipods, itunes, and plain old air radio. That is why the merger will probably be allowed. No monopoly! just mho

And my opinion is that commercial radio in America is impossible to listen to. Choose any station you like - they have about 10 songs they play all day. You get to hear about 5 songs an hour. The rest is 20% some bonehead 'DJ' yacking about his love of baseball, and 80% low budget commercials with some idiot yelling at you about some podunk car dealer that's 100 miles away.

Satellite radio, on the other hand, has commercial free, DJ free stations. Lots more music choice. Much more entertainment. I am happy to pay my $10 or so a month to be able to listen to decent music!

All my own humble opinion, of course :-)
