#5033 RE: BigB #5030

I have to second that, BigB. ssDNA molecules can block proteins directly as aptemers, and shut down genes permanently if necessary through TFO's. They can inhibit cancers by forming g-quartet oligos. The list goes on and on.

In fact they can also do mRNA interference (RNAi).

When an ssDNA molecule is designed to work as a DNA enzyme, it chops the target mRNA into little pieces which act as siRNA's (short interfering RNA) and actually engage the whole RNAi process.

So in essence, we have everything they have and a lot more.

In fact, we can only hope that they are fabulously successful with their plasmids. Any work that demonstrates how the technology of DNA constructs is a great advantage just makes the medical world more aware of why we’re valuable.
