indeed, spooky. as for synergies, this deal could pretty much "pay for itself overnight" if there's enough overlap between the companies and cost savings involved.

one consideration: mako has a separate location from deep down, and if mako's operations stay where they are this gives DPDW another location from which they can rent out LARS and other equipment. both mako and deep down can diversify their offerings, thereby serving broader markets, for no additional cost.

i think it's also quite likely electrowave will operate out of the LA location, too.

going forward, the more subsidiaries DPDW acquires, the broader the range of product and service offerings they will have at each location.

synergies, indeed.

6 months ago i said...

"DPDW is building a one stop shop combining specialized and rapidly growing companies that have amazing synergies. Together they reduce each others operation costs while increasing efficiency and customer service.

i see Mako Tech as being the ROV arm of DPDW. Deep Down designs and manufactures ROV tools and accessories which will save Mako Tech money. Mako Tech owns ROVs which Deep Down will use for installations and servicing. Instead of equipment that DPDW either used to rent or pay someone for it is now in house and vice versa with Mako Tech. there are a lot more synergies, inlcuding those with Electrowave."

my perspective of the DPDW and Mako combination has not changed. sure the Mako acquisition took longer than most expected and hoped for, however the two companies had these past months to plan the synergies that are ready to be utilized. DPDW management has continued to build both the immediate value and the long term potential of this still budding company and i have confidence they will continue to do so for years to come.

i have been waiting over a year for todays news. hopefully there will continue to be more progress on the ROV front.

the exploration, mapping and exploitation of the deep ocean has really just begun. the potential service and rental revenues created by the Mako subsidiary are immense, and not just in the O&G industry.
