#550 RE: rfj1862 #547

I dont have anything backwards. I think its great that proelex may not cause bone resorption. However women havent been studied on this drug longterm. The fda is paranoid about long term side effects. it remains to be seen what the effects of proelex will be long term(years). That needs to be studied before there is a long term indication.
I dont claim that proelex will be used to treat osteporosis, there are other therapies for that. Osteoporosis is not the only reason that women are not on long term lupron. Often times its not just pain but infertility and other complications of the disease. Six moths of lupron will not cause any serious consequences in these women but it remains to be seen what the long term effects of proelex will be.

When one stops lupron, the endometriosis returns. Thats probably the case with proelex as well. However in the case of a temorary supression of ovulation to reduce endometriosis and possibly improve fertility, lupron is fine.
