#693 RE: HabaneroDog #691

Hi Buck

Short answer. No.

Long answer.......

Funny you should ask that. As much as I hate to have to admit it... I used System Restore.

Yes. It's true. I used System restore even this very morning. It wasn't really my fault though. It was that dam Microsoft Bootvis program I loaded this morning.

There I was. Minding my own business monitoring my IHub favorites page and playing with the calculator in Windows and dreaming about what kind of boat I was gonna buy when my 1.55 million free shares of IBZT hits a dollar.

Anyhow. Along comes a poster recommending Bootvis and how wonderful it was. So I figured I would give it a try and then write a review about it. So what that Microsoft issued a warning that the program was only for PC system designers and software developers?

Who cares. I ain't skeered. No sir. Not me! Into the breech I dived. Never mind the fact that Microsoft has removed the download from the general public and password restricted access to only software designers and developers. Not me. I ain't skeered. I went straight to the bootleg site and downloaded that puppy and installed it right then and there.

Went to the file> options box and turned that puppy on. Nope. Not me. I can do this. Did the reboot. just like it said........hummmmm.......Uh Oh.......Oh Chit!

Locked up tight. I mean I can see the wallpaper with the three palm trees on the island and the triamaran sailboat just outside of the dropoff. But that is as far as she goes. Even the mouse was locked up.

Ok no problem just do a control>alt>delete. Pull up the Task manager and shut that puppy off.

Not today dummy. keyboard is locked up too. Are you beginning to get the picture why Microsoft didn't want you putting your dummas hands on this program yet? Ok push the power button and count slowly. One Mississippi. Two Missippi.............

Rebooted and yup. You guessed it. Still locked up tight. This is starting to get somewhat aggravating. So push the dam power button again. One Mississippi two Mississippi......

Reboot holding down the F8 key and put this puppy in Safe Mode>control panel>add/remove programs. I'll just uninstall this bitch and forget about it............Not on the list of programs available for uninstall. Dammit.....

Ok. Start>all programs>Microsoft Bootvis> uninstall? whare is the dam uninstall? ?/@3%^ There ain't one. Something about this program just chaps my _ss.

No problem. I've still got my favorite Ace Utilities. It has lots more uninstall options than XP. Start>all programs>ace utilities.exe. Click on optimize>uninstall manager> and Bingo! There it is. Microsoft Bootvis. Hilite it and click on Uninstall and.........."Ace Utilities Uninstall Manager does not function while in safe mode. Please restart your computer and run Uninstall Manager from a standart boot"

@#%$&^%(*)*)((^&%#$^%^&^(*&)(*_)+_)_))^*$$#

Startin' to get the picture yet Bruce? Feelin' like a dummas yet? Maybe Ol Billy and the Microsoft support boys just got tired of the dam phone calls.

OK. I give up. Reboot holding the F8 key again. When the option page to either boot in safe mode or restore to an earlier config comes up I grudgingly click on restore.

There. On the list of restore points sits today's only entry...."Installation of Microsoft BootVis"

At least it wasn't "BWWWAAAHHHAAAAAAAA!!!! DUMMAS. WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO GET HERE?"

Restored, rebooted and the Terminator is running again. The program was still there. It just wasn't running now. Went to Ace Utilities and ran the uninstaller and that pig is gone. Never to return.

Hope that answered your dam question. I mean ya didn't have to rub it in. (g)
