Tampa: It's a small matter, but can't agree with you on a couple of things you said. You wrote, "The problem here is performance is always eluded to, but never promised in any tangible way."

Perhaps it is ancient history to go back to when Steven promised deployment next quarter, or next year since 1998 and we are just now getting into the market, if indeed we are in the market. It is so typical of Wave that there are questions about that, too.

The immediate threat is the SEC investigation. Once we get past that, if there is no major damage, perhaps we can look at the road ahead. Right now it is dominating everything.

I'm willing to cut mgt a little slack (no more than a little) if in fact we are actually in the marketplace and there is a decent campaign to let people know what is available.

Unfortunately it has been my experience that just about everything connected with Wave has been second rate. All the demo's I went to, left me underwhelmed. SKS is not a polished speaker, nor a particularly charismatic CEO.

I hold out a slim hope we can succeed, but the dilution has made it so that whatever success we may have, will be multiplied by one-fifth, with probably at least two more rounds coming.

And yet, Trusted Computing could be the next big thing. That is not completely out of the realm of possibility--just more than a little improbable, in my view, given the obstacles, the leadership, the track record, the SEC investigation, the lack of finances and our penchant for shooting ourselves in the foot at the worst possible moment.

My Wave dream is hanging by a spider thread. I wish I could muster the blissful confidence the happy dreamers do. They have shut out reality for so long, they no longer know what it looks, sounds, smells, or tastes like. It looks to me like those folks are on a collision course with getting reaquainted with reality very soon.

Best to you and the rest of us longs. May God have mercy on us.

It is almost 2004, If you had told me in 1996 when I got in, that I'd still be arguing about whether Wave would succeed or not, I would have laughed right out loud, because I would have considered the question ridiculous. I'm laughing now, but only to keep from crying.

Happy New Year Tampa--Blue
