That's an interesting response, given your previous claim that process shrinks will come with diminishing returns.

Oh, I see. Many semis have techniques that work in the lab, but they really aren't practical when it comes to cost and manufacturability. I think I agree with this.

It's just too bad that no semis are researching techniques that are viable in terms of cost and manufacturability. Perhaps those enhanced Hi-K, Metal Gate transistors from Intel that they've demoed repeatedly, including 3.33GHz quad core chips running benchmarks and outperforming Kentsfield processors by >40% in some cases, won't end up being viable because of cost or manufacturability....
