In the batcher I've seen them grow up tree trunks to the foliage 15-20 ft, both dew and blackberries. Old timers say that means a spring flood is due.

OT: Larry, I have seen them growing wild, about that high in south-central North Carolina, where I was born and lived until around 1950. My father used to burn the bushes down every year and they would right back up fine the next year.
