mr_schnizzle -- You said:

"but we are not talking metal detectors strapped beneath the belly of SkySat, looking for buried arms caches."

mr_schnizzle, that was exactly what was being spoken of. Here is the post by nerd that I responded to.

"deadheded consider that you had a metal detector on the S2A and were flying it in a coverage pattern in Iraq. How many caches of arms do you suppose you might find? Consider all the other countries where caches of arms might be."

mr_schnizzle, I have no problem with your supposition simply because I do not know. Actually, no one on this board knows. There have been, are and will be numerous guesses, hopes, thoughts and opinions but, as of now, no one here knows.

You wrote: In addition SkySAT no doubt, will also be carrying an array of comms (encrypted IP over Hotzone WiMAX possibly) and optics for the 'customer' - whoever that may be!!

Not really...the initial work for the comm you mention has already been done using standard military comms and a software program by a small company. In fact the program was recently modified for the USAF and navy but a purchase has not been made to date. Small $1mill specials have been allocated to continue more specified work. It has also been part of the crucial link up program for a special group of military training in eastern washington for many months. Perhaps this is the missing piece they were waiting for. If you are intersted in putting the pieces together, search for "infoworkspace" or maybe frank will allow a one time post as to the company's name.
