Wrote my last post before you posted from the company. I'll repeat-- Awk pointed out that the real paradigm shift is that the ID check of registers is stored on the drive and checked out BEFORE BOOT-UP.
That doesn't happen with the flash so while they are encrypted..and jules is right might take part of the market down the road for stuff that doesn't require security. Jules is (hopefully) underestimating the CONSUMER need for web services and secure ID..... Folks SKS talks about a billion machines out there which need VARYING degrees of security.
The arguments here always seem to take a this way or that way approach. I'm right so you must be wrong! We are all afraid of Betamax when we are talking about variations between Honda, Hyunda, Infinity, and Buick. This stuff is being worked out...meanwhile technologies don't disappear-- they mutate. We've mutated several times.
Our problem is we haven't got started with Seagate. I don't doubt for a minute that Seagate is going to sell millions of these drives over the next few years...They will also do what they have to do to survive. Wave will offer its technology and expertise to the Flash Drive folks. As an example...What happens when the DoD wants both the TPM and the flash drive...I still think Wave provided the solution.
Hope that helps and clarifies.
