Diesel,

Cable vs. DSL. Cable is currently faster in most cases. Understand that on cable you are joining a network and a firewall is required to keep nosy neighbors out of your computer. Cable will also slow down as more and more computers get on line at the same time.

DSL is changing. The future shows me VDSL. Very fast DSL. 6GB speed over the telephone line. Who knows when it will be available.

The newest tech out there is PWL. Wide band (6+ gigs) brought to you over your power lines. Very neat.

I personally long for the days, living in S. Florida, when I had Road Runner. I am now living in The sticks of N. Florida and the fastest I can get is dial up. My ISP has a wireless service but I would have to spend about $3 grand on a tower, antenna, and equipment for only a platry 3X dial up speed. Why bother?
