Thanks, Bruce. That was my understanding as well. But I still cannot account for a fried USB port after 11 months of use. Guess I'll have to chalk it up to quality defect + infant mortality.

Anyway, a new motherboard is on it's way.

Report on motherboard transplant from Dell (after a failed USB port).

Dell's next day on site business warranty is very good. I live way out in the boonies, Dell contractor made the 1 1/2 hr. drive and had the MB swapped out and was gone in 20 minutes. System back in tip-top shape.
