Thanks, ispro and awk. Excellent posts. I regret my verb "transport" - I think it would have been more accurate to say "extend", as in, based on the history I assume Wave will extend its TPM functionality to NAND hardware. This seems to be the MO, whether it be a smart card, a hard drive, a USB device or a fingerprint reader. The TPM hardens the security of data as it is used, stored and exchanged.

This thing about authenticating USBs was something that had not occurred to me at all. I really like the way you explain this whole issue with the HOWs and the WHATs. You've created a new perspective for me.
