Ree: the next standard...

Cute...nice plug :0)

Actually, when I say standard, I literally mean "backbone"...like what Robotscript was "supposed" to be with it's underpinning Gatekeeper technology.

I'm really talking about MS Robotics Studio.

A standard is what is "Vitally" needed in the robot market place, and I mean that globally...no matter what deployment or application you might think of.

A standard language/interface/protocol...that's the key...with MS creeping it's way into the OS of modern robotics, it makes perfect sense to present itself as the "standard" interface for nuts and bolts programming as well (and everyone will write their own interfaces on top of it as well). I gotta hand it to the MS guys, they really thought this approach through and there are going to be ramifications well into the future...they did what an entire industry both failed and resisted to do (for their own collective good), and that includes RWT & Robotscript.

This is why I applauded MSRS's release...it is much bigger than people realize...it's deep, and leaps past a lot of other stuff that's been sitting around out there....like our stuff.

Only an entity like MS had/has the muscle to make that happen...which if you read my very first post I referred to the fact that WW and RWT never really stood a chance with the forces that were at work against them and their success.

They had the right idea...but that's all past tense now.
