Yeah, you're probably rigt. I was speaking from the perspective of 50+ years ago on a WI farm where every farmer raised pigs for his own use and maybe a neighbor or three. Nobody had money to spend on chemicals even if they were available then. Neighbors were anyone within a mile or so, closest I remember was about a 1/4 mile across the highway. Barter was used a lot then.
