not necessarily true seahag.... caribou is a very mild tasting meat (all they eat all day long is moss & lichen) and - in many cases elk does not have a gamey flavor - but deer - depending on where & what they eat can indeed have a very gamey taste - and bear - if you don't get all the fat off of it can also have an undesireable taste - but having said all of that if the hunter properly skins/prepares the animal at the earliest time most, if not all, of the undesirable taste can be eliminated
