Otellini didn't give any updates to Intel's current first-quarter earnings and revenue forecasts, which currently estimate gross margins of 49% and revenue between $8.9 billion and $9.3 billion.
By not giving an update, he's essentially giving an update that it's ontrack. I would expect some significant MSS gains for Intel this quarter.
Otellini said Intel's goal remains to maintain its historical range of between 72% and 86% of the market of PC microprocessors.
I think it is funny that both AMD and Intel insist on using unit share as the main competitive metric, for opposite reasons. Intel uses it to appear less dominant than they really are because of monopoly issues, and AMD does so in order to appear stronger than they are, because of financing issues.
