Thanks for the informative post. No one that knows anything about Iplex sees this as a cure for any of the studied indications but as an effective treatment for serious diseases. As far as the Myotrophin trials, I would compare them with the MMD studies by Dr. Moxley with IGF-1. He stoped studies with IGF-1 for MMD due to side effects in doses high enough to be effective but restarted studies when Iplex became available because Iplex can safely deliver 4X the amount of IGF-1. I see the same scenario with ALS and do not look for significant effects from this Mayo trial because of the relative low dose. While some efficacy will probably be seen in some of the patients as were seen in previous Cephalon trial, I would not expect anything like Mr. Bruno has reported. He has already lived 10 years with ALS and in very good health. Let me make a very simple comparison that would apply to all drugs. The recommended dose for Tylenol for fever is 650 mg every 4 hours. If you took 170 mg every 4 hours, a few may see a reduction in fever but most would not show an effect. Also if I understand the delivery of Iplex, the IGF-1 is bound until it reaches IGF-1 deficient neurons and is then released to the target. From the little I know about Iplex vs IGF-1, the efficacy of Iplex will be far superior and the results reported by Mr. Bruno bear this out so far. Iplex has been shown to promote muscle growth, bone growth, cell regeneration and is being looked at for neurological disorders that are not even discussed here. Just a brief summary of my thoughts, some facts and some just my opinion.

While Iplex is not a cure, it would be great to have a treatment to improve quality of life until a cure is found. Lets all hope that Iplex is that treatment, not for our monetary gain but all the people dying a horrible death and Iplex is available now and not years from now.
