I’ll remind everyone that right after they bought Iowa a video came out showing a tour of the facility and a portion of that video showed some mechanical rooms particularly the blower room that supplied air to the tanks. I don’t recall if the motors were 20 hp or 100 hp each but there were about 12 or so of these motors that are hungry for electricity to operate. I calculated the monthly cost for electricity, just these motors, and it was several thousand dollars each month, just to blow air…
I think it’s rather easy to state the generators have received little to zero preventative maintenance, SHMP deciding to pocket the $75,000 - $100,000 to maintain those generators that aren’t needed…until they are needed.
I called this share selling promotion out years ago, and was 100% accurate.
They should have immediately raised barramundi, for which the facility was built, and used this revenue for cash flow while the played with their attempts at growing shrimp. A fully trained staff was readily available in Iowa, most of which wanted their jobs back.
Readily available online Chinese EC wastewater treatment equipment would have been a much better choice.
BTW, today, right now, 10-15 count GORGEOUS shrimp wholesale to restaurants are $3.25/lb on the gulf coast.
