You knew the Mets were gonna cool off after that hot run. I agree with you on Gil, I actually think Gil is gonna be good long-term, I just said this innings thing was gonna be an issue this year.

As for severino despite yesterday, and lets face it did diekman have to come in and let all 3 inherited runners score with a grand slam, he really stinks, and so does this adcock guy another guy who has to dfa'd. This bullpen is awful and if they don't make the playoffs that is all you have to look at because this is a disaster. The good news is calling up Butto will add to the bullpen, since we moved houser in the bullpen he has been good (Despite the homerun to winker the other day who has insane numbers against him career wise) Nunez has been rock solid as well. Garret is okay. But specially Diekman as your lefty out of the pen and this adcock need to be replaced immediatley. And preferably with better arms in a couple of weeks.

Lindor even with his most recent slump against two really good pitchers has a 867 ops out of the leadoff and is hitting 289 since he got there. Lindor does have 40 xbh this season which is alot of XBH at this point. he is on his way to probably another 30/30 season at SS. Is he great or a super star the answer is no. But is he a solid player the answer is yes. Since Volpe has been in the leadoff he has a 650 ops, slightly different than Lindor's don't you think?

My Cleanup hitter has 39 xbh, can I say this is the greatest year pete has had into a contract year. The answer is no, which might be good for keeping the cost to sign him down. But he still has 39 xbh And wil hit close to 40 and have over 70 xbh when this season is over.

And do me a favor forget BA, I mean Nimmo is hitting 243 hitting 2nd, he has a 363 obp. That is what is really important. Better yet Outside of a guy they recently called up in ben rice. Guess How many yankees not named soto nd judge have ops over 700 (I mean stanton could be included but who knows when we see him again). The answer is none. How many mets have OPS over 700 that are starters. The answer is everyone not name the pitcher (Jeff Mcniel) new nickname for me. Nobody is even close to soto and Judge. But lets be fair for a second The mets lineup is a gazillion times better than the yankees it isn't even close.

Now the mets bullpen is a complete disaster even much worse without diaz. And this might be the reason that stops them from making the playoffs, it is legendary bad. There starting staff is okay, but could get much better if Senga makes his return in less than a month. There defense isn't great, but not really worried about that. A couple of high quality Bullpen arms would make the world of difference plus the return of diaz, which lets face it the bullpen had a era north of like 8 during this 10 game stretch.

You seem to got this idea though that you can't comment on other team not named your own. I can have an opinion that volpe has not been good since he was moved to the leadoff spots and his stats over the last month have gotten terrible, while rooting for the mets. I can do both. And trust me if I was dealing with a lot of royals fans, I would talk more about the royals, or the red sox or any team, because I simply like to talk baseball even if it is not the team I root for. All is just my opinion of course.

Mets General Starters (OPS)
Lindor 752
Nimmo 802
JD Martinez 836
Alonso 802
Alvarez 850
Vientos 913
Marte 745 (Now on the il)
Mcniel (585) Should be iglesias although I wouldn't expect his OPS to stay anywhere near 855 if he played more often)
Bader 715

I mean league average is like high 600's, there getting plus production when marte is healthy out of 8 spots in the lineup. Which is why they are 2nd in the NL in homers even without pete having this monster year, and 3rd in doubles. That is alot of extra base hits.
Look at the ops numbers of the guys the yanks are putting out there everyday. Now the yanks are better they have a starting staff which is better (despite recent struggles) and despite their struggles in the bullpen it is better than the mets granted that isn't saying much. But Lineup your essentially a two guy lineup, the mets have dangerous hitter up and down the lineup. which one would you rather have?
