Well I don't think the red sox have any chance of a wc, if they start trading some of there better players away. I mean trading away your closer and your leading homerun hitter, for a team that is barely over 500, makes them worse. Hence they are not making a wc. Now I don't think the red sox are gonna make a wc, I think Houston will come up and get that final wc if I'm being honest. So I wouldn't be against the red sox trading pieces, but make no mistake this team isn't gonna win a wc if you do that. This dumb idea of losing important pieces when your a team hanging around the last wc, and you will remain competitive just isn't gonna happen. I think this whole thought process of that and to be fair I have heard this kind of logic like we should trade severino away at the deadline and we will remain competitive. Wrong. And it is not like your getting a top prospect either. So what is the point to get a guy in low A ball that has 20% of a chance to be a decent starter 3-4 years from now. I mean a guy you can sign in fa 3 years earlier and help you now. A team like Boston, Or the mets for the most part shouldn't be thinking this way. They have the payroll to buy pieces that are gonna be comparable now to most prospects that even if it end up well 4 year from now, that guy is most likely avaialbein free agency and with the new baseball fa landscape the middle guy gets not much pay this isn't basketball in that respect.

As for making the playoffs. I fundamentally disagree well your not the best team. That is true. But if you make the playoffs, and I don't think the red sox will make the playoffs this year trades or not. But if you do, you have a shot. Look at arizona last year they went to the WS and won 84. In 2006 the 83 or so win cardinals took out my mets on there way. With the expanded playoffs it will often not be the best team that win or makes a run to the WS it will be the hot team. Hence why I always want to make the playoffs the more tickets to the playoff lottery the more chances to win a championship. And any time your there you can get hot and go on a magical run, and every year there is gonna be a team that go much further than you think perhaps even winning it all, and if your there why can't it be you. All is just my opinion and I could always be wrong though.
