"Myopic" would be ignoring the fact that patents take years to be granted and BIEL would need new clinical studies to market their device for this new indication.

"Myopic" would be shaking the pom-poms about this new patent application without acknowledging that BIEL let their other patents expire.

IF this company was successfully marketing or selling or accomplishing anything else, and if this company had some other patented intellectual property, then fine, a new patent would be great news. But to ignore everything else and shout about a new patent application is, well..... "myopic" is a kind way of putting it.

It's like they are starting over with a new device. "The market" is not impressed.
