The Rs have known for quite some time that their numbers were shrinking. They needed some sort of savior.
Along comes TFG to rile up a base using his "drain the swamp" message. It was a winner and so the party signed on and rode his coattails even though many (including Miss Lindsay) knew that it was going to create some problems in the long run. But...carpe diem.
Now, other than the racists, the misogynists and the fascists, the TFG's message is starting to wear thin and he's seen as a liability rather than an asset. Problem is the Rs put all their eggs into TFG's basket. They have no plan B (how ironic).
The R party is in panic mode. As they should be.
BTW, you saw Lara Trump's statement about a second term for TFG being "four years of scorched earth" ?
That's a nice message for America.
And I think they may be getting tired of Trumpty, too.
