The paper does however explain that essentially the true value of a stock is what a fully and correctly informed market prices it at. This is the premise for establishing inflation arising from misstatements or omissions, even if these occurred a few years prior to the disclosure of them, which is the bit that is deeply flawed. No one has come up with a better method, because there isn't a factual one to be had.
