Missed that. Yep bright-eyed and bubbly little girls are a delight. My morning walk, when i get there, goes up past two schools, primary and high on opposite sides of the street on the top of a hill, so if i make it about 8:30 youngsters pass me going up the hill and come toward me as i go down the other side. Passing me makes me grumble as they look to be walking so easily. Grrr. I've been purposely checking out faces lately, and started thinking you might be almost able to pick the levels of confidence and prospects each has by their look. Found myself thinking, yep, success there. Hmm, not so easily maybe, that one.

You can definitely pick out some poorer ones even though they have uniforms. Research is mixed of course, though have read much rebutting the pro-uniform point that uniforms are an equalizer. Some anyway says children know who the disadvantaged kids are, uniformed or not. Since i grew up in a strictly non-uniform scene i've always leaned to the no side, but most schools are stricter on them now than they were 40 years ago.

It's the looks on the faces which are most interesting. This morning a young mother had three with her. Looked two primary and one just into high maybe. One tiny little girl was chatting and laughing. I said, wow, so happy and chatty so early in the morning. Mom looked at me and smiled and the little one in the big floppy hat looked UP with an even bigger smile. Warming. You bet.
