Sumitomo Corporation, a major Japanese trading company, has an exclusive distributorship agreement with US Magnesium LLC for lithium carbonate. This agreement allows Sumitomo Corporation to sell USMag’s lithium carbonate in Japan, Korea, and China1.

Lithium carbonate is a crucial raw material used in the production of lithium-ion batteries, which power automotive batteries, laptop PCs, and other mobile devices. Additionally, there is strong demand for lithium carbonate in industrial applications, including as additives for thermal glass and other glass products, as well as absorbents used in refrigerators1.

USMag’s newly commissioned lithium carbonate facility, located on the shores of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, was built within its existing manufacturing complex. Brine water from the Great Salt Lake is concentrated in solar evaporation ponds, purified, and electrolyzed to produce magnesium metal and byproduct mixed salts rich in lithium chloride. USMag is the largest single-site magnesium producer globally and is now processing these lithium-rich salts. Notably, the use of previously generated, concentrated, and purified byproduct salts eliminates the need for certain mining operations, minimizing the environmental impact of the lithium business. The utilization of natural solar energy for concentration in the evaporation ponds further reduces the need for fossil fuels in the process. These factors contribute to a low-cost profile compared to traditional lithium producers12.

US Magnesium LLC, a privately traded North American continent largest magnesium producer, prouced 92,000 metric tons per annum, and also produces 9,000 metric tons of lithium bicarbonate per annum already as well..All points to who is our contract partner is??....US Mag LLC is a Biggie in Utah..Has been doing business in Utah for decades..and our quite an environmentally concerned company which the state of Utah has no problems doing great business with....IBAT is a perfect fit..and if the shoe fits, wear it..The house ( IBAT plant) is already relocated(Western US) and being upscaled to 8,000 metric tons per annum capability..We have a term sheet partner .The details of the signing will be completed according to their plan.. Permits for US Magnesium LLC being in place seem logical for this Utah based company..A Leader for sure..IBAT Looking Good Elsewhere in Argentina and Chile Too..
