There is no fixing stupid. This "conversion" will convince many that there actually was a reduction in equity.

A preferred share that is readily convertible into unrestricted commons is functionally identical to a common share EXCEPT it has preference over those common shares in the event of a restructuring or dividend distribution.....ie, it is more valuable.
