Its not just Tesla and it encompasses more than just the factory tires as some EV owners have to change the tires on a regular basis at so few miles. What is interesting is there does seem to be range of experiences. Not everyone is burning through tires as quickly. Which makes me wonder what is the real cause? News articles would have you believe that Tesla drivers are utilizing that 0-60 torque too much but from what ive seen of Tesla drivers, they are usually more conservative drivers. They are slower on the acceleration, slower average mph, slower on anything that might wear the tires out faster. If it was weight of the engine related, then all Teslas would experience the same wear. Means something else is the root cause. Like usually there is metal mesh in tires, could that be combining with Em radiation to accelerate wear somehow? If its EM radiation related then that would explain the high variance in tire wear.

At EV Garage Miami, a Sweetwater repair shop that services 90 percent electric vehicles, lead technician Jonathan Sanchez said tires are the most frequent thing customers come in about — no matter what model or make of EV they’re driving. Tire mileage can vary widely of course, but he said he frequently changes EV tires at just 8,000 to 10,000 miles — a fourth or even fifth of typical tire wear on a gas-burning car.
