A company gets street coverage once it gets institutional buyers or occasionally when its become high profile with the likelihood of long only buy in. The street covers stocks to attract real money to use them to buy ... not for retail. There is nothing altruistic or opportunistic (other than to get real money attention ) about the companies they write notes on. They would never take a flier and cover an OTC stock , simply never.
Portfolio managers are prohibited from buying on OTC ( for obvious reasons )
