Teecee, some valid ideas (but I won't say all 'cause I honestly don't know). Another angle that was offered by a fellow investor was the need to appease the analysts back in the day who would look at traditional metrics including ROI and ROE. I don't always agree with how the street looks at companies when making a recommendation, but we do know that companies will cater to those who are making the recommendations of whether to buy or sell. Our chunky income stream wasn't always easy for the analysts because it required far more in-depth thinking than many were willing to invest in a single stock recommendation and litigation was a continual wild card.
