Yes, "SOC."

Falconer: another acronym for your list:
SOC: Standard of Care

Joseph,

As always, thank you. Keep posting acronyms that need to be on my list. Right now, I've got over 75, awaiting good, complete definitions, which I'm working on. Hope to have the list available sometime next week. But after it's posted, revisions and updates will continue. I invite everyone's participation --- to make clear what is otherwise obscured by the writing of undefined acronyms in postings on this board. It's a bit much to think that because an author knows the meaning of an acronym that all readers should, too.

Not the way it works in the real world. In good technical writing, acronyms are commonly and conveniently used. But the rule (seldom applied here) is that an acronym should never be used until after what it stands for has first appeared, with its acronym in parentheses immediately following.

In the case of the acronym you just provided, a proper use would be as follows:

There is the prospect that blarcamesine will become the standard of care (SOC) drug for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease. The existing SOC drugs will be eclipsed by blarcamesine's safety and efficacy.
