That is a crazy story. I did not know that a lithium battery would not accept a fast charge unless it was at some nominal temperature. I did know that they pull a lot of power from the battery to keep the battery warm overnight. I did know a battery lost capacity with lower temperatures, but 25% loss in capacity for every 15 deg below 72 is crazy. The math says that is 24% capacity at -3 degrees and it would take all of that just to try and keep the battery warm I am guessing.
Did I ever mention that I have a friend here who's grandson bought a top of the line Tesla for $140K 3 years ago. He was ready for a new one and he was offered $40K trade in. Now that is crazy.
