With few exceptions only the most psychologically needy have stayed after continuously being disappointed year after year. They feel they NEED to be right about this.

My dad was a high-level mathematician who published many well cited papers within his specialty. I was taught that everyone should use critical thinking skills, and that everyone can use critical thinking skills. It has been a lifelong fascination to me when I encounter people that refuse to do so.

That is one psychological explanation for why I have allowed myself to remain here, trying to talk some sense into these people. Eventually, I finally realized it isn’t going to happen. I still try some, but my primary target is the newcomer who is not already psychologically attached.
