Just a random, comment, my guess is the fickle finger of fate picked the participants and allowed a severity imbalance in the placebo vs treated groups.
"randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, Phase 2/3 EXCELLENCE clinical trial"
Though I would love a more informed opinion
