Very true. In fact, most calls go to zero, whether they have 1 or 100,000 open interest.

Open interest is not really an indication for anything.



Disagree - open interest does give you an idea of how much the stock is followed and how easy it will be to get out of the position before expiration if you need/want to. It also usually will show high narrow/wide the bid/ask spread is, which significantly affect the costs of a sale/purchase. It almost always shows the extent of how much the market is saying that there is a significant binary event expected to occur before expiration (as does IV).

currently own almost the half open interest and the lowest I paid was 15 cents and highest 45 cents... Stock price must go up for it to work..not open interest..not spread[



Again true. Good luck. I am almost always a seller of volatility since it wins when the price goes down OR stays steady. No chance of big gains, but steady and sometimes significant income.
