Yep, it is a puzzlement. We all felt like it was terribly dumb of some of the first Generics to jump in rather than letting Amarin develop the market. So one or two with some stupid thinking could be, but can all these companies be so dumb? Maybe they are happy just collecting a few nickels. Of course since most if not all of these guys have many, many drugs they distribute it probably does not cost that much to throw another one into their offerings.

I know I shouldn't (water under the bridge) but every time there is some news concerning Generics selling V, I think of the disastrous decisions made by management concerning the trial. Venue selection, and not reaching some settlement rather than risking the whole business.

Are each of the new generic entities entering with the idea in mind that their company is strong enough to capture most or all of the current generic market for themselves—something ~ 46-47% as shown by CaptBeer’s charts? The same charts demonstrate history does not support them. More generics now simply divide that U.S. market size/share amongst them—each will have a smaller fraction of the total market as more generics enter that market.

It must be that each generic entity is counting on the total market size increasing. That total market in the U.S. could increase with advertising. More likely is the appearance of new Vascepa indications—weight loss, oncology and AD.

I don't even know what this means from that SA blurb:

"The drugmaker will in-license the product and start its commercial rollout in the U.S. by the end of this year."

Did AMRN license Amneal to sell their own generic version of V, or did Amneal just get their generic approved by the FDA? I mean a generic without links to AMRN doesn't need a license for anything. Either way, this is a big deal - AFAIK the current generic players don't make the 0.5 g dose, and this says Amneal will be making both doses.
