Good point. I bought my first VCR in 1980, a massive Sony Betamax that cost $899. A handsome piece of equipment that still works like new. The VCR came from an independent store which also sold and rented tapes. The store had a secluded corner for porn tapes. That was probably the only profitable area in the place. It and most small video stores like it shut down when Blockbuster and VHS came in.
