Why would Amarin even suggest that they would make a settlement offer? This lawsuit sounded like extortion from the moment it was filed. Dr. Reddy's never lacked product from the moment it entered the market. Maybe it wasn't easy to secure in the beginning before it came to market, but that was because Dr. Reddy's hadn't spent 15 years perfecting the manufacture of Vascepa and working deals with supply companies, deals that keep forcing Amarin to pay $10 million spoilage claims now because the demand that was anticipated never materialized.

Amarin should sue Dr. Reddy's for defamation and insist on the lawsuit being tossed out as frivilous, especially as Dr. Reddy's and all of the other generics keep infringing on Amarin's patents covering its label to reduce heart attacks and strokes.

Do Amarin's lawyers ever win anything???????

Lizzy, This is actually kind of interesting. It's fairly clear that the mediation was court ordered. Amarin had no intention of trying to resolve this through that process. The attorneys didn't even have the authority to offer anything. The representatives of DRL did have authorization. Can't know for sure, but it sounds like amarin thinks they have the advantage.
