I’m not sure what this is indicating. Could expand and or clarify?
While it is a titillating perspective, shareholders need to be careful not to see the name Google, and think that that means Google is in the room. To not see the name Cisco and think that that means Cisco is in the room. And so on.
These are gigantic companies with tens of thousands of employees. The fact that they send what may only be ONE or TWO people to listen to Lightwave and others talk about emerging photonic approaches only means that someone in their huge company wants to know what they have to say.
It doesn’t mean there’s been any sea change within that company. It doesn’t mean they’re planning on making any major change in the next year or even the next five years to incorporate photonics as offered by these speakers in a big way. All it means is someone in the company is listening to what is being said.
How many times have shareholders been given an inch and taken a yard? How many times have the thought “this is finally it” only to discover how wrong they had been?
