Because if they share the data now, then fewer will go to their presentation at ECOC. If I were a conf presenter, I'd rather wait for the conf to do a big reveal. Same question as "why doesn't Apple just tell us their next product before the keynote presentation?"
I think if they had mind blowing data, late next week would be the best time to release it pre-conference. Heck, next week would be a great time to sign another deal. Then you get to talk about both at ECOC. Don't get your hopes too far up though.
