Other companies can develop their own electro-optic polymer modulators/transceivers. Lightwave doesn't have patents on every polymer. If polymer augmented transceivers are such a great thing, or the next big thing, other companies can just make their own. They don't necessarily need Lightwave's polymers, do they? And maybe there's something better than polymers. Maybe there's something in the works better than e-o polymer modulators/transceivers.
