#81598 RE: Tesla thru the roof #81595

You're statistically more likely to be killed by a Tesla ramming into parked emergency vehicles than any other brand. Did you forget? Or does the Kool-Aid prevent you from caring? Don’t answer that, Everyone already knows the answer.

Reuters -- August 24, 2023

since 2016, NHTSA has opened more than three dozen Tesla special crash investigations in cases where driver systems such as Autopilot were suspected of being used, with 23 crash deaths reported to date.

Tesla recalled nearly 363,000 vehicles with "Full Self-Driving" systems last week, which includes the Model S. The recall was aimed at fixing issues with the way Teslas behave around intersections and following posted speed limits.

But it also comes amid a bigger investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into Tesla's automated driving systems.

A Tesla driver was killed and a passenger was critically injured Saturday when the car plowed into a fire truck that was parked on a Northern California freeway to shield a crew clearing another accident, fire officials said.

Four firefighters who were in the truck when it was struck on Interstate 680 were treated for minor injuries, said Tracie Dutter, assistant chief of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The driver was declared dead at the scene, Dutter said. The car needed to be cut open to remove the passenger, who was taken to the hospital.
