I have had two episodes of what I call "mitochondrial collapse". The first was in late 2019 and was probably an early case of COVID. I had severe respiratory issues and thought I was dying. started taking 1200mg NAC every 2-3 hours... I didn't die.

Did the same recently when I had an overwhelming fatigue and could barely get out of bed.

I suspect that 2-73 would be even better than NAC.

From the AI generated by a search for "fluoroquinolones mitochondrial toxicity"

Fluoroquinolone (FQ) antibiotics can cause mitochondrial toxicity. These antibiotics can disrupt mitochondrial function in mammalian cells, leading to oxidative stress and damage. For example, ciprofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone) can impair mitochondrial DNA replication and transcription. This can impact cellular proliferation and differentiation.
In 2013, the FDA reported that FQs affect mammalian topoisomerase II, especially in mitochondria. In 2013 and 2014, citizen petitions requested black box revisions to identify mitochondrial toxicity as a serious adverse drug reaction.
Fluoroquinolone toxicity can cause conditions ranging from tendinitis to aortic aneurysms. More than 1,260 individuals have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of Levaquin, Cipro, and Avelox. The plaintiffs claim that the companies failed to warn the public that their drugs caused nerve damage.
Other mitochondrial toxic drugs have received FDA black box warnings. These drugs cover many therapeutic areas, including viral or bacterial infection, oncology, CNS, and inflammation.
