In Pasadena where they're strongest, the Santa Ana winds have been over 100 mph.

I've told many people since leaving our home in Pasadena that 100 mph winds were not common but also nothing historical. Incredibly hot, 95-100 degree winds coming in at a similar speed at a time of year when the hills were nothing less than a tinder-box. The Kinneloa fire in 1993 was scary for everyone along the San Gabriel mountains but particularly so for those of us in Altadena and adjacent towns. California has always been disaster central but the last few years have been nothing short of spectacular. In 2020 4.4MM acres burned in California, roughly 4% of the entire state. Hopefully all of this rain and moisture will mitigate this year's fire season without undo flooding.

We can share with you, lol. Would not miss a few a year at all.
