tkg, exactly! The energy draw is going to be huge. and Lightwave will increase the data transmission 3x on existing modulator systems with only replacing the old with the new ones, with no voltage driver chip and 1/10th the current energy needed!
If one looks at the big picture of Lightwave's benefit: 3x increase in transmission, at 1/10th energy (if that is 1/10 less energy for 3x increase in transmission, this equals 30x of benefit in energy reduction per data transmitted in EO systems) if my understanding is correct.
