Fruit fly season here. I'm going to make traps for them again. A Water glass with 1/2" of vinegar and several drops of dish soap. Cover with tight plastic, then poke a few holes in it.

Ant trap update. I previously used peanut oil poured off the top of peanut butter. This time I tried olive oil with a bit of peanut butter mixed in. Same good results.

I poured a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a fairly straight walled bowl. Stirred in a small blob of peanut butter. Then stretched plastic wrap over the bowl, and cut a little hole in the top. I swirled the oil around to coat the wall of the bowl.

The next day, a mat of dead ants stuck in the oil. I think it's too slippery for them to get back out.
Poison bait traps are designed for ants to take poison back to the nest. My trap gets rid of active ants only. But, all natural and pet/kid safe.

And for extra protein, they're ready for the frying pan.
