Yes there are 2 types of gravy and my wife's cousin who lives in Baltimore is an expert on both learning from her mother in law who lived in NC. There is the white gravy made with bacon grease flour and milk and served over biscuits with eggs on the side.

Then there is red eye gravy which uses the leftover from frying up country ham and mixing with coffee. Again eggs on the side are a must.
