#205885 RE: rocketeer357 #205884

The mets are not a boring team to watch they are a fustrating team to watch. And it starts with Buck. Tomorrow on the big stage my guess is he will go back to vogelbach, which they know will trigger practically every mets fans negative feelings, but they will do it.

They don't play vientos everyday who we want to see. And yesterday in what world is guilome PH a better idea than marte if you want to ph for vientos. And Guiolme struck out ysterday because he wasn't in the batter box in time. This team is making ton of mental mistakes. Throwing to the wrong base, the lindor DP ball, the mcneil ball on saturday, where your rushing to get two outs, but not making sure of 1. The Buck rather arguing and not challenging the transfer play, and the 15 seconds pass by. Buck has been awful, this team decision making with there prospect has been outrageously bad, Lets face it we would of not seen alvarez i Nido and Navarez both didn't get hurt. And the last three games I've seen navarez twice at C, and newsfash Alvarez is a better catcher defensively too.

He keeps going to an exhausted bullpen early Now he is starting to pulling pitchers with 80 pitches, you would think they have the Yanks bullpen or something, which is why the yanks have a winning record, But they don't and he is rushing to get to Josh walker yesterday which actually worked. But I still think he was lucky that it did, and more time than not when he has made these moves it has backfired.

The premise of them winning 95 games was based on a number of things. One for starters, buck being buck last year. That alone makes this team 35-31 instead of 31-35. Yes he has litterally cost them about 3-4 games so far on his way to about 8-10 by year end compared to last year with his terrible decision making practically every game, justifying not walking vlad guerreo in the 9th with a open base in a tied game with 2 outs when you have the immortal Biggio on deck who was hitting 174 at the time. And he was litterally trying to sell us this was a good decision. The team is complacent, there complacent mentality has cost them a couple of games as well. Furthermore, the offense looks great in atlanta they can't pitch, and then they pitch in pittsburgh on sunday and they get 3 hits and 1 lousy run. But if you look at these offensive guys who is having a better year than there career.

Mcniel is like a 310-315 hitter, he is hitting 275. Furthermore not that mcniel is a power hitter, but he had a stretch of 1 xbh in 35 games or so this year. 1 XBH. He normally is a doubles machine. How about Lindor, look at his number, these are by far the worst numbers of his career. I know Pete had alot of Homers, But his 231 ba and 326 obp were lower than normal and now he got hurt for a month the one play they couldn't afford to lose for and extended period of time. Marte has had a disappoiting year so far. Canha and Pham have finally started to hit a little bit, but long period they weren't hitting either. Outside of Maybe Nimmo and Alvarez (Because he doesn't have a history, but playing well), not a heck of alot playing to there historical stats.

Also the 95 wins were based on Pitching depth. Carrasco got hurt, So did Quintana (Who still hasn't pitched for the mets yet), Verlander was out (I get it expected at some point) Although Anyone expected when he was pitching, he would pitch far better than 5 era, and that was reasonable to expect, your age theory of him missing time was true, I expected that, that was buried in the 95 win forecast, the thing is when he did pitch, I expected verlander to be verlander. Scherzer, had a injury and sticky stuff as well. But to be fair has his era isn't too far off what I expected, i was thinking low 3's.

But here's the thing, Peterson was a huge problem he was excellent last year, and this year he was uncompetitive. There was no reason to expect him to be that uncompetive combined with the injuries of and extended period of time where not 1 or 2 starters were out but 4 starters at the same time. Carrasco, was hurt when he started pitching he was uncompetive to start, than he got the shot for the bone spurs, come back and kind of pitched better, like I would expect. But the end of the day, this team has underperformed everywhere, and remember when the forecast was for 95 wins, they won 101 last year, so there was some thing built in that weren't going to go as good as last year, but everything has went wrong with this team.

My problem with Buck though is that if he was managing like last year we woud be in front of the last wc spot, with the hopes of getting Alonso back and Quintana to replace megill who is another one that underachived. But instead he has them underperforming, in a mediocre NL, this team should be waaaaaaaaaay better than it is, but because of the managers, and the players who all consistently underperformed in 2023, it is why it is most fustrating and irritating mets team since I have been a fan and not even close. We lose 6 in a row, and Buck after the game is saying he is proud of them multiple times, and than they go out and get destroyed by the pirates the next game. I mean what exactly is he proud of? Being the biggest underachiving team of the year. All is just my opinion of course.
